RV window seals fail from the same forces that affect everything else in a coach - UV exposure, thermal expansion and contraction, and road vibration. A failed window seal is a water intrusion point that typically shows up as water on the interior wall below the window or a musty smell from trapped moisture in the wall cavity.
Foggy double-pane RV windows have lost their seal between the glass layers, allowing moisture to condense inside the insulated unit. The fog cannot be cleaned - it's inside the sealed unit. The window glass insert (not the whole frame) can often be replaced on most RV window styles without removing the entire window.
RV Window Problems We Fix
- Window frame seal replacement - removing old caulk and resealing the exterior frame perimeter
- Rubber seal and weatherstrip replacement on sliding or jalousie windows
- Foggy insulated glass unit replacement (glass only, not frame)
- Cracked or broken glass replacement
- Window frame cracks from UV or impact damage
- Operator mechanism repair on crank-out windows
Window Brands and Parts
Hehr, Elixir, and Lippert are the most common RV window manufacturers. Replacement glass for Hehr windows is typically available by part number. Lippert windows often use standard insulated glass unit sizes. We measure existing windows and source appropriate replacement glass or complete window assemblies depending on the extent of damage.
