Wekiwa Springs State Park

Wekiwa Springs is the crown jewel of Apopka-area camping. The park's 60 RV sites with electric and water hookups fill up fast, especially in spring and fall when temperatures are perfect. The spring-fed pool maintains a constant 68 degrees year-round - refreshing in Florida's summer heat.

Getting in with a large Class A or fifth wheel requires calling ahead. The park entrance road narrows at one point, and long rigs (over 40 feet) should confirm clearance before arrival. We've serviced RVs at Wekiwa many times - if you have an issue while camping there, call us and we'll coordinate with the rangers on access.

Rock Springs Run State Reserve

Rock Springs Run is adjacent to Wekiwa Springs and offers primitive and semi-developed camping along the Rock Springs Run waterway. The tubing run from Kelly Park through Rock Springs Run is one of the most popular outdoor activities in Orange County. RV sites here are more primitive but the scenery is stunning.

Kelly Park (Orange County)

Kelly Park on Rock Springs Run Road in Apopka is the put-in point for the famous tubing run. The county park has RV camping with hookups and is managed by Orange County Parks. Unlike state parks, reservations can be made through Orange County's reservation system. Sites book out quickly in summer.

Lake Norris Conservation Area

About 15 miles north of Apopka toward Eustis, Lake Norris Conservation Area offers primitive camping in a beautiful cypress swamp setting. It's accessible to smaller RVs and provides a truly off-the-beaten-path experience. No hookups, but spectacular wildlife viewing including sandhill cranes and migrating waterfowl.

RV Maintenance Tips for Apopka-Area Camping

The springs around Apopka run cold even in summer, but the ambient temperatures can hit 95+ degrees. Your RV AC will be working at maximum capacity. Have your AC serviced before peak summer camping season to avoid a breakdown at Wekiwa. A failed capacitor on a 100-degree day can make a campsite uninhabitable within an hour.

The Oak canopy at Wekiwa Springs drops significant debris on RV roofs. After any extended stay under the trees, do a quick roof check for branches and pine needles accumulating in roof vents and around the AC unit. This debris can clog vent covers and trap moisture against sealants.
